Assess the existing construction
Before deciding what to retain or replace, review the floor structure, levels, signs of moisture and the space available for a new build-up. An apparent surface problem does not by itself establish the condition of the supporting floor.
Coordinate the floor with the rest of the home
Insulation, underfloor heating, services and the finish affect one another. The proposed build-up must also work with doors, stairs and adjoining rooms. If the renovation includes structural changes, these need their own assessment before work is agreed.
Make the scope clear before removal begins
Agree which layers will be removed, what will replace them and how unexpected conditions will be handled. The quotation should identify preparation, materials, exclusions and the sequence of work. Suitability cannot be confirmed from floor area alone.
