Underfloor heating milled into an existing screed
Milling may allow underfloor heating to be incorporated into a suitable existing screed. Vlas Construction considers this method within renovation projects in The Hague and surrounding areas, within approximately 50 km.

Check suitability before choosing milling
The type, condition and thickness of the screed matter, as do existing pipes and other services. Not every floor can be milled. Establish what is present before agreeing the method rather than assuming the existing construction can remain unchanged.
Review the complete floor build-up
The heating pipes sit in channels in the screed, which can limit additional height from the heating system. Preparation, channel filling and the final floor covering still need to be specified. Milling does not add insulation beneath the existing floor.

Plan finishing and heating together
Confirm how the channels will be closed, which preparation the finish requires and when each stage can proceed. The heating design depends on the room’s heat demand, insulation and heating source. Do not assume milling is dust-free or that the floor is immediately ready for every finish.
